I knew at a very young age that I wanted to be deeply involved in the occult. I wanted to be a divine conduit to the spirit world and convey messages to those who needed it. However, I was not born into an occult family. Quite the opposite in fact. Unfortunately, this prevented me from receiving the help to understand what I was experiencing at that time. I had what I would describe as a Spirit teacher. Some parents might have called this an imaginary friend, but my friend was very real.  I can still feel and talk to this teacher today in my adult years. Actually, I believe this to not just be one person, but a group of spirits that have been with me since my birth. They have been there to help me fill in the gaps of knowledge in my spiritual development, and my journey with the divine.

I did my first spell at 5 yrs old, with the guidance and help of my Spirit team, to protect myself from a bully in kindergarten. I started pretend reading bicycle playing cards as tarot cards at about 10 yrs old, with my own interpretations of card meanings. I desperately wanted real tarot cards. In my young mind this was the epitome of divination. I was also practicing some other very unusual forms of divination, that I thought I had made up, until the invention of the internet came much later and I realized these are actually ancient practices and were in fact being taught to me through the spirit team. 

 

  I was gifted a palm reading book by a friend at school when I was 13.  It was really more like a pamphlet, but this was the first time I actually had a real book to learn from. I read that thing and studied it until the pages fell out then I studied some more. By the time was 15, I was doing palm readings for all my friends.  Soon after, I stole a deck of tarot cards from gift shop at the mall - Yes, I know, that's terrible and I know that it is NOT TRUE that your deck must be stolen or gifted to work. I buy all my own cards these days and they all work just the same. My juvenile mind could not withstand the temptation and lure of the brilliantly colored cards that held the mystery of "true magick" I believed they held. I poured over those cards for many years, reading the tiny booklet they came with it over and over. It was SO MUCH WORK to memorize them all. 78 cards with dozens of meaning for each, right side up and upside down.  I was more than overwhelmed trying to learn tarot. It felt like a daunting and impossible task to complete. I would not become a true tarot reader for more than a decade.  I felt defeated and wondered how I would ever become a true reader. 

 

I did however, become a very good palm reader. In my twenties, I was doing palm readings for trade, usually at dive bars for a beer or a couple smokes. (public smoking in bars and restaurants was still a thing then) 

In my thirties, I took some Reiki classes, I expanded my knowledge of the occult, crystals, and herbs, through access to books, google, and social media and it brought with it access to others, which became my most valuable resource.  It was also here that I decided to get serious about the Tarot.  I started doing free readings online, I wasn't great. I took an extreme amount of criticism, backlash and sometimes abuse.  But I kept at it, I kept practicing, I kept working on my understanding and my development. and communication style,  I kept reading and improving.  I did my first professional paid reading in 2018. Since then, I have began dabbling in bone reading, remote viewing, using a crystal ball, mediumship, and psychic readings.

My lifelong love affair with divination and the occult has brought challenges and achievements. Its brought peace in the midst of chaos, to not only myself, but to the countless others whose lives I been able to touch. I'm still a work in progress, I'll never stop learning the ways of the divine, expanding knowledge, and growing. It's my life's work and what I have been destined for all along.
